Day off

Actually, I'm elbow deep in house cleaning (preparing for new tenants to see the house), sorting clothes, arranging travel vaccinations, etc., etc. So it's not really a day off.

But, if you're interested, here's a piece I wrote for Topblogmag. Still not a featured piece. Maybe one day....

It's a lovely post. Why would you use a transparent box for the difficult memories? Wouldn't you rather they were shut away out of sight, and then you could choose whether and when to catch sight of them?

Hi Iota. I was thinking more that if it was transparent they could be observed from afar...

You're always "featured" in my day. Good luck with the packing; I'm sure Bambi will help..

I think the solution is quite sensible Iota. Hiding the bad stuff away is never a good idea.

I enjoyed the heartfelt post TGW.

I think the 'difficult' memories are just as important as the happy and pleasant ones. It's what we go through every day that defines who we are (to a degree).
Having said that, I tend to 'shut out' the sad memories or events in my life. I know I shouldn't but it works best for me this way. Lovely post Good Woman!

Thanks for the reassurance Lady M. Bambi has proven herself highly adept at UNpacking. Grrrr.

Glad you enjoyed the post SAHD.

Thanks Dee. I agree with you - but I tend to keep a wary eye on them...

Hah! What a great posting. Reminds me of a conservation with someone whose job I was inheriting. He showed me through the contact list, warning me away from using various people whose names were on it, next to descriptions about them like "unreliable", "let us down over such-and-such" etc.
"Why don't we just delete them from the file?" I asked my soon-to-be ex-colleague, innocently.
"Because all these people come round again and again," he explained patiently. "And we need to be able to identify them."

Hi Mother at Large - so true.

It's a lovely post. I've heard it said that you should just throw out the sad memories but it is hard.
